CityBox Executive Essence™

Todd Thomson is a business and civic leader whose work centers on bringing together organizations, institutions, and decision-makers to strengthen Greater Pensacola’s economic future.

As President & CEO of the Greater Pensacola Chamber of Commerce, Thomson operates at the intersection of business advocacy, public policy, workforce development, regional collaboration, military-community relationships, and economic opportunity.

His leadership reflects an understanding that sustainable regional growth depends not on any single organization, but on the ability of business, government, education, military, nonprofit, and community leaders to work toward shared priorities. The Chamber currently identifies Thomson as its President/CEO.

Executive Overview

Todd Thomson serves as President & CEO of the Greater Pensacola Chamber of Commerce, an organization founded in 1889 that works to support the growth, success, and civic engagement of the region’s business community.

Thomson joined the Chamber in February 2015 and initially served in public-affairs leadership before becoming President & CEO in 2019. Before joining the Chamber, he built approximately two decades of experience in Florida government, politics, public affairs, advocacy, and government relations. His earlier work included serving as Staff Director for the Redistricting Committee in the Florida House of Representatives and as Director of Government Relations for BP following the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.

That background gives Thomson a leadership perspective spanning both public policy and private-sector priorities. Today, he applies that experience to an organization serving entrepreneurs, employers, executives, military partners, educators, nonprofits, and community stakeholders across Greater Pensacola.

Why This Leader Matters

Regional economic growth increasingly depends on leaders who can work across institutional boundaries.

Businesses need talent. Educational institutions need insight into workforce demand. Government leaders need an understanding of business conditions. Military installations and defense-related industries remain deeply connected to Northwest Florida’s economy. Entrepreneurs need networks, resources, and advocates.

The Chamber sits at the intersection of many of those relationships.

Under Thomson’s leadership, that makes his role more than organizational management. It requires convening stakeholders, interpreting public policy, representing business interests, strengthening relationships, and helping create environments in which businesses and communities can grow together.

His experience in government, advocacy, and business leadership provides an unusual combination of perspectives for navigating those conversations.
